Junior Church

Not being able to go to church or school at the moment our children are still interacting with each other through social media under the guidance of our children and youth worker, Lesley.

Our focus in Junior Church is on making sure each of our young people feel like they are welcomed and valued here at Kirkton, we hope that everyone experiences a sense of belonging.  Our school age children from primary through to secondary are catered for in three separate groups. For primary 1-3 we have the Junior Lighthouse Club, for those in primary 4-7 the Senior Lighthouse Club and for those at secondary school we have Searchers.

Both sections of The Lighthouse Club meet every Sunday in the large hall apart from when we are in Church for all age services. The children follow an active learning programme within these groups as they learn about God, Jesus, the Bible and what it is to be a Christian.

We fully understand that for our secondary aged members of Junior Church coming to Church every Sunday morning might not always be possible. Some have weekend jobs, family commitments and school work to cope with.  Our Searchers group is flexible and at certain times of the month meets during the week rather than on a Sunday morning. We also stay in Church on the first Sunday of the month to allow the young people to experience a full service of worship.

On Communion Sundays, all those in Junior Church join with the congregation to share in Communion. Children attending Noah’s Ark and the Lighthouse Clubs return to the Church from their activities in time to join their families to share in Communion. The young people in Searchers remain in Church for the full service on Communion Sundays.
