When you are welcomed in you’ll be given a printed Order of Service, which also contains news of upcoming events and activities. (There are Large Print versions available.) Most of what you need to see (such as hymn words) will also be on the screens, though we do still have some hymnbooks and bibles in the seats for those who prefer to use them.
The main service of worship takes place each Sunday in the church at 11.00am and usually lasts around an hour. The service begins with everyone worshipping together. Then the Junior Church groups go off to the Halls for their own activities. However several times a year we have All Age Services.
If you are visiting with us you are invited to sign our visitors’ book on the table in the main entrance at the end of the service. You are also warmly invited for a cup of tea or coffee in the church halls so that we can get to know you better.
Communion
On the first Sunday of March, June, September and December the Sacrament of Holy Communion is celebrated at 11.00am and 2.30pm.
Souper Sundays
Every 6 weeks or so, you will have the opportunity to stay for a soup lunch after the morning service. These lunches are organised so that members of the congregation can get to know each other over lunch, followed by a good old blether. At the same time you will be helping others. We serve homemade soup with fresh crusty bread followed by a little something nice with your tea or coffee. Usually there is some lovely home baking to sample. These lunches started a number of years ago when Church of Scotland requested that each church hold a Souper Sunday to raise funds for the Church of Scotland HIV Programme. The team of helpers enjoyed it so much that they decided it should be a regular feature, while at the same time providing funds for various charities. We still hold one each year for the HIV Programme but we try to support a variety of other good causes. If you haven’t done it before, please come along and give it a try. You will be made very welcome!
