Intimations for Sunday 5th May

PLEASE PRAY THIS PRAYER EACH DAY

Pray this week for the Nations of the world. Pray for peace in the war torn areas, for nutrition for the starving and shelter for the exposed, for medical care for the sick and protection for the abused.

TRAIDCRAFT The stall will be set up in the large hall after the morning service.  The range is wider than in recent months so do please come and take a look at what’s on offer.  If no one is manning the stall just help yourself and come back next week to complete the sale.  Thank you for your support over many years.

PASTORAL CARE CONFERENCE – thank you to everyone who attended and helped in any way to make it the success it was.

CLYDESDALE FOOD BANK  Our shopping list for this week includes:- dried rice, tins of custard and rice pudding, spaghetti, macaroni cheese, carrots, potatoes, peas, hot meat meals, fish, UHT milk, salt, coffee and bleach. Thank you to those who have passed on their excess carrier bags. This is something we are always happy to receive.

Thank you to all for your continuing support. Open at 66 High St, Carluke from 10 to 12, Monday to Friday.

THE ANNUAL PARADE AND AWARDS CEREMONY FOR GIRLS AND BOYS BRIGADE will take place in the church on Sunday 12th May.

We invite everyone to come along and see the young men and ladies receive their awards in the church. We will then move to the large hall for food and cake cutting duties!

May I ask if the congregation could prepare some sandwiches, cakes, tray bakes etc as per previous years? Please hand into the kitchen from 9.30am onwards.

Thanks again for everyone’s support, Derek Smith.

CHRISTIAN AID WEEK 12TH-18TH MAY

The churches and community in Carluke come together every year to support the work of Christian Aid – making a real difference to people around the world.

There are a number of events planned.

Dates for your diary

Sunday 12th – Christian Aid Service @ 7.30pm, URC Church Carnwath Road

13th – 18th Christian Aid Café, will run Monday – Saturday  (excluding Wednesday) in St John’s Church Halls (Kirkton Church will run the café on Friday 17th May)

How can you help?

We need volunteers and donations of food for Kirkton’s Café on the 17th May. Sign up sheets are available this morning in the Large Hall. (If you are unable to help with the our Café on Friday, the URC Church would welcome any help on Tuesday.)

The biggest change for Kirkton this year is that there will be no door-to-door collection, instead we will provide Gift Aid donation envelopes for everyone who comes to church on the weeks leading up to Christian Aid week. What we hope is that you will consider contributing to the work of Christian Aid in this way. Please return the envelope to the church and if you are eligible, please sign the gift aid declaration. Last year we collected over £1000.00 by door-to-door so it is a big target for the church to aim for. Please return your envelope to Church by Sunday 12th May.

We also hope to have a day collecting in Tesco to help us raise money from the community too – volunteers will be needed, date yet to be confirmed. J

Finally the Christian Aid Quiz is available for sale £1.00 in the large Hall today.

Thank you in anticipation of your support.
