WELCOME TO KIRKTON As we strive to provide a welcoming environment for all who worship here, all can play a part. Those who have worshipped here for many years can be kind and considerate to “new faces”, speaking to them and making room for them if they appear uncertain or hesitant when looking for somewhere to sit. Newcomers or visitors should feel free to speak to anyone, in particular our Welcoming Elder.
PARKING – please park considerately. Due to the need to preserve the root network of the tree at the main door of the church in conjunction with safety issues for pedestrians, vehicles dropping off or picking up individuals are kindly asked to do this from Station Road.
CLYDESDALE FOOD BANK Thank you all for your support.
This week we need tins of tins of custard, rice pudding, sweetcorn, fish, cold meat, jam, sauce for pasta, diluting juice and bleach.

all of the churches for one off donations and standing orders.
TRAIDCRAFT STALL – The stall will be back on its usual spot in the large hall after the morning service. Most of our standard products are in stock although we are a little low on sweets. Your support for our stall allowed us to make a donation of £200 to Traidcraft Exchange – the charity arm of Traidcraft which helps to give producers in developing countries a market for their produce.
THE GUILD AT KIRKTON – Our next meeting will be held on 18th February at 7.30pm in the small hall. The speaker is Jane Fucella from Biggar Her talk is entitled “Behind the Smiles”. This is the title of a book she has written on her life and work in Thailand with her husband Rev Michael Fucella from Biggar Kirk. Please remember it is also our Gift Night. All welcome.
RETREAT The discipleship workgroup has organised a retreat for Saturday February 29th, 10 – 4 pm, at Braehead house. The cost is £15 per head and includes lunch. Please contact Val Macsween or the church office if you would like to reserve a place.
BRAEHEAD HOUSE Journey Through Lent – Braehead House is having weekly Friday Lunch Time Reflections during lent beginning on Friday 28 February for 6 weeks. A soup and bread lunch will be served at 12noon (£5 per week). A time of reflection for Lent will follow at 12.30pm for approximately 30 minutes. - The first meeting will be a seed and pot swap. If you have seeds you have collected or too many for your purpose please bring them along, or plants sitting in pots you don’t have room for.
- You do not need to have anything to swap just come for a chat and find out what’s going on. Bring a friend or neighbour.

The March meeting will be a mini potato day where a selection of seed potatoes and onion sets will be available to buy.

FORWARD IN FELLOWSHIP CONCERT The 4th Carluke Company attached to our church is a member of the Lanarkshire District Fellowship of The Boys’ Brigade (“LDF”). The LDF has partnered with two local Lanarkshire charities, Hope for Autism, and You are my Sunshine and is producing a one-off charity concert in their aid. The concert will take place on Saturday 29 February 2020, Dalziel St. Andrews, Merry Street, Motherwell, doors open 7PM, curtain up 7.30pm. Tickets are priced at £5 and can be purchased from Lesley Ewing.
The LDF are delighted to confirm that four fantastic acts are supporting the concert: the award-winning Wishaw and District Brigade Band, the Pipers of the LDF, The Jolly Bs (Stonehouse Male Voice Choir) and renowned organist Mr Mark Hindley of RSNO fame. Get your tickets while you can for what is sure to be a great evening of musical entertainment in aid of two great causes.

KIRKTON PRAYER CHAIN. – The congregation is encouraged to make prayer requests, as the need arises, via the confidential email address: kirktonprayer@gmail.com Alternatively, you can use the yellow Prayer Request slips in the plastic wallets in the church chairs and pews. Give the first name or the initial of the person requiring and give brief details, place in the box in the vestibule marked “Prayer Requests”. Please advise of answers to prayer or any change in the situation via email or request slip. Prayer request are active for one month from date submitted. If further prayer is required then please submit another, updated request.
