A Moment to Reflect -92

There is an old Spanish proverb, “No por mucho madrugar amanece más temprano” which in English is “the sun is not hurried by early risers.”

But I’ve decided not to post another picture of a sunrise, instead this is a photograph taken on the roof of the Opera House in Oslo. I was part of a small group from the Church of Scotland on an official visit to the Church of Norway.

I took a lot of pictures of the Opera House. It is quite a spectacular building. As I was lining up this particular shot three young men were walking down the roof towards me. When they saw that I was about to take a picture they stopped but I waved them through because I had already made up my mind that I wanted to include them in the shot.

So I had to wait as they walked past, wait for precisely the right moment to release the shutter… and it worked.

If life sometimes surprises us with unexpected moments of grace: there are other times when we just have to learn patience and wait …for God’s moment.

Commit your way to the Lord;
    trust in him and he will do this:
he will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn,
    your vindication like the noonday sun.

Be still before the Lord
    and wait patiently for him;
do not fret when people succeed in their ways,
    when they carry out their wicked schemes.—Psalm 37:5-7
