A Moment to Reflect -25
“The truth will set you free.” Jesus
The photograph was taken on the Isle of Arran on a quiet Spring evening three years ago. As the sun began to sink below the horizon casting a lilac glow across the sky, the waters between the Isle of Arran and Holy Isle lit up with a clarity and glassy transparency that created a sense of deep peace and tranquillity.
In the last few not-so-peaceful days there has been a lot going on in the media about truth and transparency.
It reminded me of these words from Dostoevsky:
“Above all, don’t lie to yourself. The man who lies to himself and listens to his own lie comes to a point that he cannot distinguish the truth within him, or around him, and so loses all respect for himself and for others. And having no respect he ceases to love.”
― Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Brothers Karamazov
