A Moment to Reflect -33

Two more quotations about patience and persistence.

“Why is patience so important? Because it makes us pay attention.” ― Paulo Coelho

Knowing trees, I understand the meaning of patience. Knowing grass, I can appreciate persistence.” ― Hal Borland

We can learn a lot from the natural world, but only if we pause and pay attention. I’ve written previously about trees and I don’t want to go over old ground but I want to suggest that at some point during this day you find a tree that you can stop beside, whether only for a brief moment or (if you are fortunate enough to be able) for a longer time.

And reflect.

If it is an old tree you may want to let your mind wander and wonder as to the many things that tree may have seen over perhaps a hundred years or more.

If it is a young tree, what changes might it see in times ahead that you may never see?

Or reflect on the possibility that perhaps it will not be allowed to live to its full potential but instead will find its life cut short by some human intervention?

…but oh the stories they might tell could they but speak…
